About KAMG (Kent Advanced Motorcyclists Group)

The Kent Advanced Motorcyclists Group has been setting the standard for advanced rider training since 1980. With our HQ at Brands Hatch, KAMG was the very first IAM RoadSmart-affiliated advanced motorcycle-only training group in the UK.

Providing IAM RoadSmart’s advanced motorcycling rider courses for over 40 years, helping keep riders safer on our roads, training them to ride with more skill, more confidence – and have more fun!

Kent Advanced Motorcyclists Group was founded in 1980

KAMG is the oldest Institute of Advanced Motorists-affiliated advanced rider training group in the UK, and has been providing dedicated training for motorcyclists since 1980. We were the very first ‘motorcycle-only’ group to be affiliated to the IAM and were instrumental in setting the high standards of riding which are required to earn the IAM RoadSmart Advanced Riders qualification. Our founder, the late Terry Friday (pictured in the centre of the photo), was the group’s President until his passing in August 2023.

But it’s not all about training…

Far from it. At KAMG you will be joining nearly 400 like-minded individuals from all walks of life who have one thing in common – a passion for motorcycling. We organise social events, ride-outs and overseas tours. We support other local and regional charities, we publish an award-winning quarterly colour magazine and a monthly email newsletter.

We meet every month in the Kentagon building at Brands Hatch – where else? You could even find yourself riding at Brands Hatch with us too. And, as you would expect, we have close links with local authorities, with the police, with independent motorcycling specialists, with dealers and, of course, with the other motoring and motorcycling organisations in the area.
